Final Tallies for Tasting Crew Fundraiser for Japan

In the big scheme of things, it probably wasn't much.

50 people.

12 wines.

1 gift certificate.

$850 directly to the American Red Cross' Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief efforts.

Which I sincerely hope will help, in some way or fashion.

For me personally, the "final tally" from last night's fundraising event was HUGE.

Because so many people and organizations stepped UP.

And because the systems for much of this kind of generosity are already in place. It's just a question of tapping into them.

Like Cellar Angels, who donated the case of wines simply -- simply -- because I asked.

Like the Charles Hotel, who donated the space at Noir Bar and the appetizers AND the gift certificate for two people to brunch at Henrietta's Table. I didn't even have to ask. They just gave.

Like the marketing forces and the buzz power behind Carlton PR and MarketingCrisis Media Consultants, Avenue 3 Real Estate, and Midnight Oil Writing.

Like a lot of "regulars" from our monthly Red White Tasting Crew. They came, fully aware that this tasting would be outside the regular scheme of things.

You all came.

You all gave.

You all helped.

The impact of it, for me, will go way beyond the event itself.

In fact, it already has.

Thank you.

I love the power of the community that exists in the Boston area. Thank you to everyone who made it possible - all in under a week!

Way to go on the generosity to the Red Cross. In fact, I heard from a friend who bid on two bottles of wine and is submitting his donation to his company for a match - so in fact, that number is now closer to $1,000!
